On the anniversary of January 6, Democrats and the Left used all of their firepower to send shots at the Republican party.

Facts

Thursday marks one year since the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and Democrats plan to observe the anniversary with somber tributes at the building that’s the symbol of American democracy.

Kamala Harris compared three major dates in U.S. history during a speech marking the first anniversary of the Capitol riot.

Harris said Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and the January 6 insurrection “echo throughout history.”

The vice president emphasized both the “fragility and strength” of democracy.

President Joe Biden on Thursday declared that Donald Trump bears “singular responsibility for the attack.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reflected on the anniversary, stating that it was rooted in Donald Trump’s ‘big lie.’

While many wanted to reflect on everything that went wrong with January 6, the Democrats and the Left had other intentions in mind. Using January 6 to boast a quick ‘win,’ and a way to attack the Republican party.

On the first anniversary of the attack, Vice President Kamala Harris underscored the severity of the January 6 insurrection by comparing it to Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

“Certain dates echo throughout history, including dates that instantly remind all who had lived through them where they were and what they were doing when our democracy came under assault,” Harris said. “Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021.”

Going on to say, despite the ‘violent assault’ that interrupted Congress certifying the presidential election, the strength of American democracy was put on display later that night.

Harris then attempted to tie the ‘fragility of democracy’ to push for voting rights legislation during the end parts of her speech, stating, “and the fragility of democracy is this. What if we are not vigilant? If we do not defend it, democracy will not stand. It will falter and fail.

She ended her remarks with a call to pass Democrats voting rights bills in the Senate as restrictive voting laws are enacted across the country.

When President Biden took the podium to speak after VP Harris, he did not look to unify the nation. A statement that he had once made in the past, addressing former President Trump directly, “we must be clear about what is true and what is a lie,” Biden said. “And here’s the truth: The former president of the United States of America has created spread a web of lies about the 2020 election. He’s done so because he values power over principle – because he sees his interest is more important than his country’s interest and America’s interest– because his bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution.”

Biden went on to attack the former president’s character, stating, “He can’t accept he lost,” Biden said. After his strongest speech to date blaming Trump for the violence, Biden tried to shrug off the press asking him why he didn’t name the former president. He stated that he didn’t want to make it into a “contemporary political battle.”

One reporter followed up, “Does calling him out divide more than it heals, though?”

“No, no, look. The way you have to heal – you have to recognize the extent of the wound. You can’t pretend. This is serious stuff. And a lot of people – understandably – want to go – you know, I’ll just as soon not face it. You’ve got to face it.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reflected on the anniversary in remarks from the Senate floor later in the day, directly calling January 6 an “attempt to reverse through violence means the outcome of a free and fair election is an insurrection. Call it what it is – what it was – and it was fundamentally rooted in Donald Trump’s big lie.”

Countless times, the Democratic party found ways to attack instead of heal on January 6. It is sad to see even on such a controversial day, they have no shame and will try to point fingers at blame. Continually finding ways to politicize the Capital Riot as a pro-Trump attack.
